Sudden changes

Remember three days ago, when it was 70 degrees outside, and mischievous boys chalked height charts on fences to determine whether their little sisters were tall enough to push them around on the tricycle?

Today it snowed.

The city school system was awkwardly canceled thirty minutes before the opening bell, and the snow was melted by noon. But not before Archer and Cady Gray squeezed the only snowballs of the season in their tube-sock-clad hands. And threw them at their father.

Wow. Very cool! We got some snow here in Dallas. The towns closer to Oklahoma got quite a bit. Us city folk just got some on our cars. Made for a busy morning for traffic reporting . . .

The socks look really funny! Like, as in funny ha-ha, not funny strange. OK, maybe a little of both. I still have yet to go up into the mountains to see snow... I don't even know if there is any there any more. But I did experience snow back in December, in, of all places, Arizona. Northern Arizona. I just spent one day there, but it had been snowing for like four days and everything was covered in close to a foot of snow. The icicles on buildings were enormous.

I actually considered putting socks on my hands while rummaging through my drawer for gloves this morning.

Glad to know I'm not the only one! :)

When I saw the vague shape of my car hidden beneath inches of snow, I was convinced Little Rock schools would be closed, and thus, UAMS inclement weather policy would be in effect. I was so excited.

An hour later, as I was pushing inches of snow off my car and looking to the iced hill I would have to navigate, I was really wishing I had grabbed some gloves. Or maybe, some nice warm tube socks.
